GOLF’S LUKE DUGGER NAMED SACRAMENTO STATE’S MALE NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Golf's Luke Dugger has been named Sacramento State's Male Newcomer of the Year…the award is given to the top male transfer student-athlete…the Davis, Calif., native earned first team all-Big Sky honors…averaged 72.73 strokes per round while playing in all 12 tournaments…scoring average ranks 13th in school single-season history… shot 66-66-71-203 at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational which was the second lowest 54-hole total in school history…became the first Sacramento State golfer to shoot 66 or better in consecutive rounds…placed eighth at the Big Sky Conference Championship.

Malachi Cox (Track & Field) -
Qualified for the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in the 200 and 400, and also ran the 4x400 relay at the meet during his first season with the team…during the indoor season, he scored for the team after placing sixth in the 400 at the Big Sky Championship…recorded a time of 48.03 in the 400 finals which ranks fifth in school history…placed first at the Prairie Wolf Indoor in the 400 in his first meet with the Hornets.

Zee Hamoda (Basketball) - An honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference selection after starting 33 of 34 games at guard…Hornets' second leading scorer at 11.9 points to go with 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 29.0 minutes per game…led the Hornets with an average of 11.8 points per game in Big Sky play…hit a buzzer beater to defeat Idaho State, 66-64, scored four points in the final 17 seconds in a 71-69 victory over Weber State, and buried a dagger 3-pointer with 11 seconds left in a 69-63 win at UC Davis.

Matt Masciangelo (Baseball) - Ranked second among Hornet regulars with a .275 average…added a team-high 14 doubles, three home runs, 34 runs scored and 27 RBIs…hit by a pitch a school single-season record 27 times, including eight times in his first nine plate appearances as a Hornet in the season-opening doubleheader against Loyola Marymount…his four HBPs in game two of that doubleheader were a school Division I era single-game record…tied a school single-game record with three doubles at Grand Canyon.

Zach Schreiner (Football) - Led Sacramento State with 91 total points which tied him for 10th in school single-season history…made 14-of-19 field goals and was a perfect 49-of-49 on extra points…his 14 field goals are tied for third most in a season at Sacramento State…became only the second Hornet to not miss a PAT when attempting at least 40 in a season…named the Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week after making field goals of 24, 22 and 44 yards in the win at Stanford…all but one of his field goal misses came from beyond 40 yards.
