WOMEN'S GOLF WRAPS UP SEASON AT NCAA CLE ELUM REGIONAL

CLE ELUM, Wash. — The Sacramento State women's golf team closed its 2023-24 season by completing the NCAA Cle Elum Regional in 11th place on Wednesday at Tumble Creek GC. The Hornets concluded the tournament with scores of 300-305-314-919.

Stanford rolled to the team title as the Cardinal finished at 17-under par to win the tournament by 18 strokes. Stanford will be joined at the NCAA Championships by Duke, Virginia, Arizona State and San Jose State who finished in the top five.

Sneha Sharan had the lowest score for Sacramento State on Wednesday, finishing the day with a 2-over par 74. Sharan birdied two of her last four holes (Nos. 15 and 18) and played the back nine even. Sharan tied for 44th overall at 75-82-74-231 and was just one stroke back of Jennifer Koga who led the team.

Overall, the team had its troubles with the front side of the course on Wednesday, not recording a birdie and standing at 20-over par at the midway point of the round. The Hornets found much more success on the back half, totaling 6-over par as a team with six birdies.

Along with Sharan's score, the team counted a 78 from Ashley Koga, an 80 from Jennifer Koga and an 82 from Caitlin Maurice.

  • The team's scoring average of 292.09 strokes per round is the second highest in school history, trailing only last season's average of 291.23.
  • Sacramento State's four tournament victories during the year are tied for the second most in program history.
  • The team's 10 rounds at or below par are the third highest all-time by a Hornet team.
  • Sneha Sharan concluded the season ranked second in school history with a scoring average of 73.15.
  • Jennifer Koga is fourth at 73.21 while Ella Kraft is 15th at 73.82.
  • Jennifer Koga, Kraft, Maurice and Sharan set the program record by playing in 33 rounds during the season.
  • Koga completed her career ranked second in school history with a career scoring average of 73.40 which falls just shy of Tess Blair's record of 73.38.
  • Koga will also depart the Hornets ranked first all-time in career top 10 finishes (20), top 20 finishes (27), even and under par rounds (43), tournaments as the team's leading scorer (18), rounds played (117) and rounds in the 60s (12). She is is second in career individual victories (two) and tied for third in top five finishes (eight).
