SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State posted four straight-set victories to highlight the Hornets' 5-0 blanking of Pacific on Saturday afternoon at Hornet Beach.
The match concluded the Beach Bash, which the Hornets hosted Friday and today. Sacramento State finished the five-team tournament with a 2-2 record, winning each of its final two matches. That included a 4-1 victory to complete a tripleheader yesterday.
The match marked the home finale as Sacramento State honored four seniors prior to the match -
Lauren Kott,
Karlee Soderberg,
Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin and
Kalani Hayes.
The Hornets received straight sets victories from each of the top four spots in the lineup. Pacific forfeited the No. 5 match.
Sacramento State received wins from Hayes/
Ellie Tisko (No. 1 - 21-11, 21-14),
Caitlin Volkmann/
Greta Davis (No. 2 - 21-13, 21-12), Soderberg/
Mia Guevara (No. 3 - 21-15, 21-15) and
Hailey Plugge/Kamba-Griffin (No. 4 - 22-20, 21-7).
Both Volkmann and Tisko improved their program single-season record to 13 wins. Both players are 13-10 this season. Both Davis and Hayes are 12-11.
Sacramento State has just three matches left on the regular season schedule. Those take place on Friday-Saturday in Berkeley where the Hornets will play Cal, San Francisco and Saint Mary's. The Big West Championship is set for April 25-26 in Long Beach.
