SHARAN LEADS WOMEN'S GOLF IN SECOND ROUND OF HAWAII TOURNAMENT

Hornets one of four teams under par through the first two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — The Sacramento State women's golf team remains near the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Monday at Ocean Course Hokuala. The Hornets were 4-over par as a team during the round are in fourth place out of 15 teams heading into the final round.

Arizona State, which is ranked 16th nationally, was 22-under par as a team during the second round and is 30-under overall. The Sun Devils are followed by North Carolina (16-under) and Washington (14-under) in the top three. Sacramento State is the only other team in the field that is under par through two rounds.

Sneha Sharan led the team during the final round with a 2-under score of 70. Sharan had six birdies during the day with only four bogeys. Five of her six birdies during the round came on par-4 holes. Sharan's effort on Monday moved her into the top 10 as she is tied for ninth place.

Ella Kraft, who led the team with a round of 67 on Sunday, is one stroke back of Sharan and tied for 11th overall. Kraft totaled 75 in the second round with three birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey.

Jennifer Koga and Caitlin Maurice are tied for 29th place at 1-over par through 36 holes. Koga shot 73 on Monday with four birdies and five bogeys. Maurice had four birdies and six bogeys to finish at 74.

The third round will start on Wednesday at 12 p.m. PT (9 a.m HT). For the second consecutive day, the Hornets will be paired with Arizona State, North Carolina and Washington off Nos. 1-3.
