KRAFT SHOOTS 67 TO GUIDE WOMEN'S GOLF IN OPENING ROUND OF HAWAII TOURNAMENT

Hornets sit in second place in field which features numerous ranked opponents

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — Led by a career-best 5-under par of 67 by Ella Kraft, the Sacramento State women's golf team is in second place following the first round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Sunday at Ocean Course Hokuala. The Hornets totaled 281 as a team and are one shot off the lead held by 16th-ranked Arizona State.

Kraft is in a three-way tie for second place after the lowest round of her career. The sophomore is one strike behind Texas State's Mattingly Palmer who leads the field at 6-under. Kraft had six birdies and just one bogey during her round. She was 2-under on the front side of the course and played the back nine at 3-under.

Sneha Sharan and Caitlin Maurice were both 1-under on Sunday and are tied for 17th place. Sharan had five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in the round. Maurice's round was highlighted by an eagle on the 455-yard, par-5 10th. She also had two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey.

The final score for the team came from Jennifer Koga who was even. Koga had six birdies, six pars and six bogeys in her round.
