SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's golf team will get a late start to its spring season as the team will co-host the Causeway Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Del Paso Country Club. The first day will consist of two 18-hole rounds beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday will be have just one round. Admission is free to the public.
The Hornets were scheduled to start the spring at The Beach Invitational in Seal Beach, Calif., on Feb. 5-6, however, that tournament was rained out. Sacramento State has not competed since the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii on Oct. 23-25.
All eight Hornet golfers will compete this weekend as the team will have three individuals on top of the five in the lineup.
Ella Kraft had the top scoring average in the four fall tournaments at 72.00 in 12 rounds. Kraft's top finish came at the 54 for IX event where she tied for fourth place and helped Sacramento State to the team title.
This year marks the sixth consecutive year that the Hornets will compete at the Causeway Invitational (formerly known as the Gunrock Invitational). Sacramento State was the team champion in the inaugural season of 2019. time the Hornets have played in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. Sacramento State was in the field each year from 2011-19. The team claimed the title in 2013, 2016 and 2019.

The Last Time at the Causeway Invitational
Sacramento State finished in fourth place after a rain limited the Causeway Invitational to just one round. The first day of the tournament featured a long weather delay. The players returned to the course and were able to complete the first round as well as the opening few holes of the second round. Rain continued on Tuesday.
Caitlin Maurice led the Hornets with an even-par round of 72 to tie for fifth place.
Ella Kraft finished the first round with a 74 and tied for 13th.
