KAPOLEI, Hawaii — Ella Kraft shot a 4-under par round of 68 and is tied for third place following the first round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Monday at Kapolei Golf Course. Kraft's score was the best for the Sacramento State women's golf team during the round and helped the Hornets to a tie for sixth place at 1-under par.
Â
Kraft started her round with a par on the seventh hole and recorded her only bogey of the day on the par-3 eighth. Once on the back nine, the junior posted birdies on five holes (Nos. 10, 13, 14, 15 and 18) to get to 4-under. She held that score for the remainder of the round, ending her day with six consecutive pars. Kraft's score was 1-stroke off her career low which also came in Hawaii at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational last spring. She is currently in a three-way tie for third place, four shots behind Colorado State's Lacey Uchida and two back of Nevada's Nikki Chindavong.
Â
Caitlin Maurice added an even-par round of 72 and is tied for 20
th place. Maurice was never more than 1-under or 1-over during her round. She traded bogeys and birdies over her first four holes and then moved to 1-under with a birdie on the par-4 15
th. A bogey on No. 18 was later followed by a birdie on the par-4 second and a bogey on the par-4 third. She moved back to 1-over after a bogey on No. 6 but dropped back to even with a birdie on the par-5 seventh.
Â

th hole and parred 15 holes in a row. A bogey on the par-4 15
th made her 1-over before she birdied the par-5 17
