TRACK & FIELD RECORDS THREE SCHOOL TOP 10S AT PRAIRIE WOLF INDOOR

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Sacramento State track and field teams wasted little time to make their marks in the school record book, posting three Hornet top 10 marks during the first hours of the Prairie Wolf Indoor on Friday.

Along with those marks Sacramento State student-athletes posted 12 personal bests and also saw numerous participants make their collegiate debut.

Sacramento State will continue its trip by competing in the Mark Colligan Memorial on Saturday.

WOMEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jessi Barry finished first in the 60 and moved into eighth place in school history with a time of 7.65. Barry ran 7.69 to claim the fastest time in the qualifying round and tie her for ninth in school history before taking .04 off her mark in the finals. Their time is the fastest by a Sacramento State woman since 2022.
  • The Hornets had five of the eight qualifiers for the finals of the 60. Kassidy Schroth placed third in 7.83 while newcomer Rionna Wallce ran 7.84 in the finals to finish in fifth. Audrey McElmurry and Tamia Ramos also qualified for the finals with times of 7.94 and 7.98 in the opening rounds.
  • Kameryn Brown was fourth in the 60-hurdles. Brown ran 9.10 in the qualifying round which seeded her sixth overall. She clocked a time of 9.14 in the finals.
  • Breija Stredic was second in the 400, running 58.04 in her first collegiate competition.
  • Daysha Ford, Schroth and Wallace all landed in the top six of the 200. Ford led the trio in 25.83 to finish in fourth place. Schroth was one spot back in 25.94 and Wallace was sixth in 25.99.
MEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
  • Zachary Winger and Stephen Dahdouh each recorded a school top 10 performance in the 60-hurdles. Winger won his heat in a time of 8.20 seconds to earn an automatic spot to the finals while Dahdouh advanced on time after running 8.15. Both improved their time in the finals with Winger finishing fourth in 8.07 and Dahdouh fifth at 8.11. Winger's time ties him for sixth place in school history and is the fastest by a Hornet since Andre Lindsey (7.87) in 2018. Dahdough is eighth in school history and has the fastest time by a freshman in school history.
  • Junior college transfer Malachi Cox also had an impactfull debut, winning the 400 in 49.13. Khalil Fowlkes finished sixth in the event in 51.94.
  • Nathan Rider placed fifth in the 200 after running 22.44.
WOMEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jayla Flowers earned the team's lone victory in the field events, finishing first in the triple jump and leading a Hornet sweep in the event. Flowers had a best of 38-01.50 which left her three inches ahead of Alexia Croffet who placed second. McElmurry was third at 37-07.75 for a four-inch improvement on her previous career best. Tamia Ramos continued the team's domination in the event by finishing fourth at 36-07.75 while R'kai Davis had a career long jump of 35-09.00 to claim seventh place.
  • Izzi Leonard and Chandler Miller placed second and fourth, respectively, in the high jump. Leonard cleared 5-04.50 while Miller had a best of 5-02.50 in her first meet as a Hornet.
MEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
  • Mason Mitchell claimed the top spot in the long jump with a long of 23-01.75 on his fourth attempt.
  • John Gibbs finished first in the triple jumps to give the Hornets both horizontal jump crowns. Gibbs had three attempts all over 45-feet, including a best of 46-04.25 on his second jump.
  • A pair of Hornet freshmen finished sixth and eight in the shot put. Leland Godfrey had a long of 47-02.25 for the top mark on the team. Eric Nakagawa's longest attempt was 44-05.25. Jack Charlton also followed a PR in the high jump (5-09.25) with a career best in the shot put (43-06.50).
