SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State's beach volleyball doubles team of Kalani Hayes and Bridgette Smith were both named honorable mention all-Big West Conference today.

The Big West is comprised of seven teams in beach volleyball, including two nationally ranked squads.

For Smith, it marked the second straight season she has received all-league accolades. It's the first honor for Hayes.

Hayes/Smith spent the entire season at the No. 1 spot of the team's lineup and compiled nine wins. That includes victories over teams from UC Davis, Santa Clara, Pacific, San Francisco, CSU Bakersfield and Liberty. Of those nine wins, six came in straight sets.

The nine victories are the third most by a doubles team in program single-season history. In addition, the nine victories are the most ever posted by a No. 1 Hornet doubles team.

Sacramento State recently concluded its 11th season of beach volleyball at last week's Big West Championship in San Luis Obispo.
