MORGAN HILL, Calif. — Casey Leebrick shot 79 during the second round of the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional to finish the day 7-over par on Tuesday at The Institute. Leebrick is tied for 62nd overall at 11-over par heading into the final round.
For the second consecutive day, Leebrick was 3-over par on the front nine holes of the course. He started with a par but then bogeyed the par-4 second. After another par, he double-bogeyed the par-4 fourth and eventually rose to 4-over with a bogey on the par-4 sixth. His first birdie of the day came on the par-3 eighth and he followed with a par to get to the midway point of his round.
On the back nine, the senior parred No. 10 but encountered trouble with a triple-bogey on the par-5 11th and a bogey on the par-4 12th. He birdied the par-5 14th and then parred the next three holes before closing the day with a bogey on No. 18.
Mississippi State and Florida State remain the top two teams in the tournament at 2-under and 1-over par, respectively. The pair are followed by Baylor (3-over), Pepperdine (6-over) and BYU (8-over) in the top five. The individual lead is held by Maximilian Steinlechner of NC State and Florida State's Luke Clanton as both have shot consecutive rounds of 70-70-140.
