WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES SEVENTH AT NCAA PULLMAN REGIONAL

Team sets numerour postseason records to wrap up historic season

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Sacramento State women's golf team concluded its record-breaking season by finishing in seventh place at the NCAA Pullman Regional on Wednesday. The Hornets, who were seeded 10th in the tournament, were 1-under par as team during the final round and finished the three-round event at 9-under par.

Stanford dominated the tournament, finishing at 50-under par and winning by 27-strokes over Clemson. USC (26-under), Baylor (23-under) and Texas Tech (19-under) completed the top five which will all advance to the NCAA Championships. Stanford Rose Zhang, who is the top-ranked player in the country and the defending NCAA Div. I medalist, claimed the individual title at the NCAA Pullman Regional with scores of 64-68-65-197. UC Riverside's Tiffany Le will also advance to the NCAA Championships as the low individual outside of the top five teams after shooting 65-71-66-202.

Sacramento State was led in the final round by Sienna Lyford who shot 71. Lyford overcame a bogey on the first hole to make the turn at 2-under with the help of birdies on Nos. 5-7. She parred the first eight holes on the back nine but ended with a bogey on the par-5 ninth.

Jennfer Koga, Ella Kraft and Tess Blair each shot 72 to complete the team total. Koga had a steady round with a bogey on the par-4 third and a birdie on the par-5 17th to go along with 16 pars.

Kraft took a different route to the same score. The freshman was 2-over on the front nine with a birdie on the par-3 fourth and bogeys on Nos. 2, 3 and 6. She opened the back nine with a birdie on the par-5 10th and returned to even with a birdie on No. 12. Bogeys on Nos. 14 and 16 moved her to 2-over before Kraft closed with birdies on Nos. 17 and 18.

Blair had three birdies and three bogeys in her final collegiate round at Sacramento State. The senior opened the day with a birdie but was 1-over after bogeys on Nos. 3 and 6. She made the turn even with a birdie on the par-5 ninth and remained there until birdying the par-4 15th. She closed the tournament with a bogey on No. 18.

Overall, Blair tied for 26th place at 74-68-72-213. Caitlin Maurice was one stroke back after shooting 69-70-76-215. Koga, Kraft and Lyford each totaled 217 to tie 37th place.
