GREELEY, Colo. — Behind four career-bests,
Eliana Coburn is in second place after the first day of the heptathlon at the Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday. Coburn totaled 3,099 points and finds herself 74 points back of Idaho State's Kylee Dimick for the lead.
Coburn started the day by running the 100-hurdles in 14.39 seconds. That time was the second fastest in the 11-person field and beat her previous best of 14.48 which came at last year's conference meet. She then cleared 5-04.50 in the high jump for a 1.25 inch improvement of her career best.
Coburn topped the field with a shot put of 38-04.75 which was nearly a foot beyond her PR of 37-05.25 from the Brutus Hamilton Multi earlier this year. Her final event of the day was the 200 where she ran 26.55. The sophomore's previous best 27.03 earlier this season.
The final day of the heptathlon on Thursday will see the student-athletes compete in the long jump, javelin and 800.
The main program of the meet will take part on Friday and Saturday.
