WALNUT, Calif. — Day two of the Mt. SAC Relays featured two more school top 10 marks for the Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams on Friday.
Daysha Ford ran 54.77 in the women's 400 to improve on her seventh place standing in the school record book. Ford's time was .08 seconds faster than her previous best which came earlier this season.
Like the previous night, the team's final competitor of the evening also recorded a significant PR.
Molly Latincsics completed the 5K in 16:55.35 to finish in sixth place. The freshman's time was a 13.46 second improvement and lifted her from ninth to seventh place all-time at Sacramento State. Latincsics' final lap of 1:12.71 was the second fastest in the race, trailing only unattached athlete Anna Dibaba who was the race winner.
The Hornet women also saw PRs from
Mia Lawrence in the 800,
Abby Meder in the discus and
Tamia Ramos in the triple jump. Lawrence had over a three-second improvement with a time of 2:11.28. Meder placed sixth at the meet in the discus with a best of 43-07.75 — a four-foot, two-inch betterment. Ramos had a career best in the triple jump of 38-07.50 which was 3.5 inches beyond her previous best.
In the men's events,
John Maka had the best finish, placing third in the discus at 161-03.
Miles Grant also landed in the top five by tying for fourth place in the high jump after clearing 6-0 6.75.
The lone PR for the men came from
Nautus Moore who ran 47.67 in the 400.
The meet will conclude on Saturday with the men's and women's hammer throw as well as
Alyssa Brewer competing in the 800 invitational.
