TRACK AND FIELD CLOSES MIKE FANELLI TRACK CLASSIC WITH 10 MORE PERSONAL BESTS

Hornets complete the weekend with 15 PRs, including a school top 10

SAN FRANCISCO — The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams completed its three-day cycle of meets with the sprinters and jumpers competing at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Saturday at San Francisco State. The Hornets combined for 10 personal bests during the day and had seven top five event finishes.

Daysha Ford and Asiah Fields finished first and second, respectively, in the 400 with both setting season bests. Ford ran 44.51 while Fields had a time of 57.85.

In the women's 100-hurdles, Tia Outlaw and Kameryn Brown each recorded personal bests. Outlaw finished in fourth place in 14.10 which was .36 seconds faster than her best. Brown took over a quarter of a second off her PR by running 14.25 to finish in sixth place.

All three Hornet women set PRs in the 800 led by Mia Lawrence who ran 2:14.45. Hailey Cross added a time of 2:22.08 while Madison Burciaga crossed in 2:24.87.

In the men's running events, freshman Zachary Winger finished fourth in the 110-hurdles in 14.58. That time was nearly a half-second better than his previous PR of 15.02. Joshua Braun also added a career best of 15.99.

In the field events, Audrey McElmurry and R'kai Davis took second and third place in the women's triple jump behind a pair of PRs. McElmurry had a best of 37-01.00 which was a four inch improvement. Davis bettered her mark by 11.75 inches with a long of 37-00.25.

Andrew Lehner and Braun each set career bests in the men's pole vault. Lehner cleared 14-03.25 while Braun had a best of 12-09.50.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational hosted by Cal. The meet will begin with the heptathlon and decathlon on Thursday and Friday and be followed by the main program on Saturday.
