PALM DESERT, Calif. — Casey Leebrick and Jeffrey Perry led the Sacramento State men's golf team with rounds of 73 and 76, respectively, during the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Thursday.

Leebrick had the best start to the round on the team as he birdied the par-5 first and par-5 fourth holes to get to 2-under. Five bogeys over the next six holes moved him to 2-over but he responded with a birdie on the par-4 11th. Following a bogey on No. 13, he birdied the par-5 14th and then ended his round with four straight pars.

Perry was 3-over through the first two holes of the second round and then fought his way back to 1-over with birdies on Nos. 4, 8 and 12 and just one bogey during that stretch. His round ended with three bogeys over the final four holes.

Sacramento State also counted an 80 from Gabriel Smith and an 82 from Riley Bell during the second round.

Wyoming moved into first place with an impressive second round which saw the Cowboys shoot 9-under par as a team (290-279-569). Utah is six strokes behind in second place with Fresno State (576), Colorado (578) and Hawaii (580) completing the top five. The Hornets are in 12th place heading into the final round on Friday.
