WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES RAINBOW WAHINE INVITATIONAL IN 11TH PLACE

Ella Kraft ties for 12th for highest finish on the team

KAPOLEI, Hawaii — Ella Kraft finished in 12th place at 1-under par to guide the Sacramento State women's golf team at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. Kraft shot 69-74-72-215 and led the team in two of the three rounds.

Kraft was never above par on Wednesday as she had two birdies and two bogeys. She birdied her second hole of the day, the par-3 fifth, and stayed 1-under until a bogey on the par-4 13th. Her next birdie came on the par-5 17th and she ended her round with a bogey on the par-4 third.

The second lowest score on the day among Hornets came from freshman Florencia Dufey who was competing as an individual. Dufey started on the 17th hole and quickly moved to 1-under with a birdie on the par-4 18th. Three straight bogeys on Nos. 1-3 moved her to 2-over and she remained there with 12 consecutive pars. She completed her tournament with a birdie on the par-3 16th.

Jennifer Koga shot 74 to follow Kraft in the lineup. Koga had three birdies and five bogeys in the third round and finished the tournament tied for 50th and 10-over par.

Sneha Sharan tied for 37th place at 8-over. Sharan had three birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey.

Caitlin Maurice and Ashley Koga each shot 79 on the third round to provide the final score toward the team total. Maurice tied for 60th overall and had five bogeys and a double bogey in the final round. Koga had two bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey on Wednesday and tied for 71st place.

Baylor won the team title by 19 strokes. The Bears were 20-under par over the three rounds and were trailed by New Mexico State and UC Davis which tied for second. Sacramento State finished in 11th place at 295-295-301-891.

The tournament was the final event of the fall for the Hornets. The team will next compete at The Beach Invitational on Feb. 5-6 in Seal Beach, Calif.
