FARMINGTON, Utah — Sacramento State's
Luke Dugger was named the Big Sky Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Dugger during his short Hornet career and the second for a Sacramento State golfer in three weeks this season.
Dugger set the school scoring record relative to par and recorded the second-lowest 54-hole total by a Hornet with his performance at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational earlier this week. The graduate student shot 66-66-71-203 to tie for second overall. His total trails only
Casey Leebrick who shot 202 at last season's Big Sky Championship on a par-70 setup.
The Davis, Calif., native was bogey free during the first round on Monday and added six birdies to finish 6-under par. He returned on Tuesday to have an eagle, six birdies and a double bogey to become the first player in school history to have scores of 66 or better in consecutive rounds. Dugger finished the tournament with two birdies and one bogey in the final round. Over the three days, he had an eagle, 14 birdies, 37 pars with just one bogey and one double bogey.
Sacramento State will close the fall portion of its schedule on Oct. 26-28 at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Hawaii.
