SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Luke Dugger shot 66 and is tied for second place after the first round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Monday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Dugger's efforts helped Sacramento State to a 4-under par team total of 284 which has the Hornets tied for eighth place.

Dugger was bogey-free through his round and finished with the second-best score of his collegiate career. A birdie on the par-4 10th dropped him to 4-under and he finished with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 before closing with a par. His score places him in a four-way tie for second place and he is one stroke back of Cal State Fullerton's Garrett Boe for the lead.

Zach Mate ranks second on the team and is tied for 29th after shooting 71. Mate had a strong start with birdies on Nos. 1, 5 and 7 to get to 3-under. His first bogey came on the par-3 eighth but he answered with a birdie on the par-4 10th to get back to 3-under. He played the final eight holes at 2-over with bogeys on Nos. 13 and 15 to accompany six pars.

Jeffrey Perry completed the team total with a 74. Perry parred his first three holes and then dropped to 2-under with birdies on Nos. 4 and 5. Back-to-back double bogeys and two pars left him at 2-over at the midway point of the round. The senior was even on the back nine with birdies on Nos. 13 and 16 bracketing a pair of bogeys.

Sacramento State was also represented by Jake Aberle who shot 76 and Keaton Sutherland who had a 79.
