WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY HAS BEST TEAM PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR AT SANTA CLARA BRONCO INVITATIONAL

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Led by five times below 22 minutes, the Sacramento State women's cross country team finished in sixth place out of 21 teams at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday at Baylands Park.

Molly Latincsics led the Hornet women, completing the 6K course in 20:33.5 to place 15th. The sophomore has had the fastest time on the team in each meet this season. Dani Gee ranked second on the team and was 23rd overall in 20:53.6. Sacramento State also counted times from Tia Oliver (36th, 21:05.9), Kaleena Narus (53rd, 21:30.2) and Kate Sanders (81st, 21:57.5).

Gonzaga's Rosina Machu won the race in 19:16.3. Her time was nearly 40 seconds faster than the next closest finisher and helped the Bulldogs win the team title with 40 points. San Francisco was second with 118 and was followed by Cal (122), UC Irvine (148), Santa Clara (181) and Sacramento State (192) in the top six.

The Hornet men had four competitors in the race, led by Aiden Maddison who placed 66th with an 8K time of 21:53.3. The team's other three runners all crossed within 14 seconds of one another with Jake Slade (94th, 25:23.3), Kelly Galicia-Thomas (104th, 25:35.4) and Paden Collard (106th, 25:36.7).

Sacramento State will next compete at the Big Sky Cross Country Championships in Missoula, Mont., on Oct. 28.
