SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The top collegiate cross country runners in this part of the country will be at Haggin Oaks GC on Friday morning for the 2025 NCAA Div. I Cross Country West Regional. The women's 6K race will start at 9 a.m. and the men's 10K race will begin at 10 a.m.
Â
Admission to the meet is free but there will be a $20 parking fee per vehicle. Due to the inclement weather on Thursday, spectators will need to park at the American River College Football Stadium (4700 College Oak Drive, Sacramento, CA 95841) and use a shuttle to the course. Cash or PayPal will be accepted for parking (do not use campus kiosks). After parking is purchased, fans will be given a wristband which allows them to ride the shuttle which will operate on a continuous loop from 6:30 a.m. to 30 minutes following the awards ceremony. The drive is about 7-10 minutes in each direction.
Â
The top two teams in each of the nine NCAA regionals secure automatic bids to the championship. The first four individual regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team also secure an auto-bid to the championships. If a team doesn't secure an automatic bid, it will have to rely on the NCAA DI Cross Country Committee to select it as one of the 14 at-large teams. Only two individual at-larges are selected.
Each team can have a maximum of seven entries in each race with the top five finishers counting towards the team total. Points are awarded based on order or finish (ex. 1
st place equals 1 point). The team with the lowest point total among its top five finishers wins the meet.
Â
The Oregon women are the top-ranked team in either race on Friday. The Ducks are fourth in the US Track & Field Collegiate Coaches Association poll and had a dominant showing at the Big Ten Championships where they totaled just 19 points. Stanford ranks second in the west and is 14
th nationally while Washington (18
th) and Washington State (24
th) complete the teams currently in the top 25 from the West Region.
Â
Three men's teams which will run at the meet are currently ranked among the top 25 in the country in the latest USTFCCCA poll. The trio is led by Oregon which is seventh nationally and is also coming off a team title at the Big Ten Championships. Washington State is 11
th nationally while WAC champion California Baptist is 17

Â
