SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's cross country team recorded its best finish at an NCAA West Regional in over a decade as the team finished in 16
th place on Friday at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.

The Hornets were led by
Tia Oliver who ran 21:26.7 to place 85
th overall in a field of nearly 300 student-athletes. Oliver's time is the 14
th fastest all-time by a Hornet at the meet.
Anna Harmon was close behind, crossing in 21:35.8 to place 90
th overall. The women also counted times from
Marina Lipary (109
th, 21:41.0),
Sophia Dudley (132
nd, 22:06.8) and
Dakota Gibson (173
rd, 22:21.0).

Washington State's Rosemary Longisa pulled away over the final 100 meters to win the race in 19:08.3 while Oregon's Diana Cherotich was second in 19:12.6. Longisa's time set the course record by a tenth of a second, bettering Oregon State's Kaylee Mitchell's time of 19.08.4 from 2023.

Stanford won the team title with 66 points while Oregon claimed the second automatic berth to the NCAA Championships by totaling 75 points. The remainder of the top five was comprised of Boise State (114), Washington State (120) and Washington (124) who will also now have to await their fate as an at-large selection.

Longisa and her teammate Zenah Cheptoo were the top two individuals outside of Stanford and Oregon are guaranteed of advancing to nationals as individuals.

Sacramento State was represented by
Ryan Martin in the men's 10K race. The sophomore ran 31.29.9 to finish in 104
th place in his first race at that distance this season. Martin's time is also the 14
th-fastest in school history at the meet.

Oregon and CBU finished first and second, respectively, in the team standings. The Ducks had four finishers in the top 11 on the way to 55 team points. CBU totaled 95 and were three points ahead of Washington State for the final AQ.

Individually, Washington State runners owned the top two times. Solomon Kipchoge won the race in 28:54.4 while Evans Kurui ran 29:23.1. Kipchoge's time set the course record which had been held by Stanford's Ky Robinson (28:55.6, 2023).
