BERKELEY, Calif. -- Sacramento State competed five singles players and one doubles team at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at the Hellman Tennis Complex over the weekend.

All five Hornet singles players won at least one match, highlighted by Jan Silva going 4-0 and qualifying for the ITA Northwest Super Regionals in two weeks. In fact, three Sacramento State players will compete at Super Regionals (Oct. 20-23) at Stanford.

That list includes Silva and Mark Keki in the singles draw, and Keki/Mate Voros in the doubles draw. Keki (singles) gained automatic entry, as did Keki/Voros (doubles) to the Super Regionals. Silva received a Super Regional berth by advancing to the semifinal round of the Regional draw. The semis and championship matches weren't played because the four remaining players - including Silva - had already clinched a Super Regional berth.

In Regional singles play, Silva, Voros, Adam Chodur, Jiri Novak and Hayden Rand each won their first round singles match. Chodur advanced to the Round of 16 before falling.
