Biography

2024 Season
• First team all-Big Sky Conference selection in singles play
• One of just seven players in the Big Sky to be named first team
• Posted a 14-4 record in dual singles play, including 3-0 at No. 1, 1-1 at No. 2, and 10-3 at No. 3
• Had a 7-1 singles record in Big Sky play
• Won a career-high seven straight singles matches from March 17-April 14
• Defeated his Idaho State opponent in the Big Sky Tourney semis at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-3 score
• Lost just one singles match during the final seven weeks of the season
• Of his 14 singles victories, 11 came in straight sets
• Went 10-9 in dual doubles play, including 9-7 at No. 3
• Played with three different doubles partners, primarily with Jiri Novak
• Recorded a 31-11 spring singles record over his final three seasons
• Finished career with a 38-18 dual singles record, and 32-20 doubles record

2023 Season
• Went 9-4 in spring dual singles matches
• That includes 2-0 at No. 1, 1-0 at No. 2, 1-0 at No. 3, and 5-4 at No. 4
• Won both his singles and doubles matches in the Big Sky Tourney semis vs Idaho
• Won his first seven singles matches of the season
• Played in 12 doubles matches (four unfinished), and went 5-3
• That includes 2-0 at No. 1, 1-2 at No. 2, and 2-1 at No. 3
• Played with three different doubles partners - Mate Voros, Adam Chodur and Ori Maior

2022 Season
• Was a combined a combined 19-4 in spring singles and doubles play
• Posted an 8-3 singles record, including 1-0 at No. 2, 5-1 at No. 3, and 2-2 at No. 4
• Provided the match-clinching point in a 4-3 road win at Saint Mary’s
• Won the final four singles matches he played
• Each of his final six singles matches came at No. 3
• Posted an 11-1 doubles record, all at No. 2, and all with partner Ori Maior
• The tandem won each of their final 10 doubles matches of the season
• Of the duo’s 11 doubles victories, nine came by scores of 6-3, 6-2 or 6-1

2021 Season

• Was in the Hornets’ singles and doubles lineup in all 15 matches as a true freshman
• Ranked 40th in the Northwest Region
• Went 7-7 in singles play, including a 2-1 mark against conference opponents
• Was 3-2 at No. 5, and 4-5 at No. 6
• Won four of the last six matches of the season, and three of those wins came after he was moved up to No. 5 in the lineup
• All seven of his victories came in straight sets
• In doubles play, Silva was 6-7, and 1-1 in league play
• That includes a 2-3 mark at No. 2, and 4-4 at No. 3
• With five matches to play in the regular season, he was moved up from No. 3 in the doubles lineup to No. 2
• Doubles partner was Michael Vizcarra during each of his matches at No. 2
• Also played with Rudolfs Aksenoks.

High School

• A 2020 graduate of Laguna Creek High School in Elk Grove, Calif
• Played three years of tennis, and three years of basketball for the Cardinals
• Senior season of tennis was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic
• Played varsity tennis during his freshman, sophomore and junior years
• Three-time first team all-league selection
• Posted a 41-2 career singles record in high school, playing at either No. 1 or 2 in each of those matches
• As a freshman in 2017, he helped lead Laguna Creek to a section championship after going 16-1 at the No. 2 singles spot
• Helped the team to league championships in 2017 and 2018

Personal
• A kinesiology major, he will graduate in the fall of 2024
• Parents are Mari Maattanen and Lawson Silva
• Mother, Mari, played collegiate tennis at Pacific
• Father, Lawson, played collegiate basketball at Southern Oregon
