LEEBRICK LEADS MEN'S GOLF IN FIRST TWO ROUNDS OF RAM MASTERS

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Sacramento State men's golf team started its season with rounds of 292 and 293 and is in 13th place after the first day of the Ram Masters Invitational at Fort Collins Country Club.

The Hornets were led by Casey Leebrick who shot 74 in the morning round before posting a 69 in the second round. Leebrick had two birdies and six bogeys in the first round. He was 2-over through four holes in the second round after three bogeys and a birdie. Leebrick then parred the next eight holes before recording birdies on Nos. 1, 4 and 6 over his final six holes. His two-round total of 74-69-143 ties him for 30th place.

Riley Bell shot 72-73-145 and is tied for 44th place. Bell had five birdies, four bogeys and a triple bogey in the first round. His second round was comprised of four birdies — which tied for the team best — one bogey and three double bogeys.

Joe Fowler paced the team in the first round with a 1-over par round of 71. Fowler started with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 6 and 7. He steadied his round with four straight pars but found himself at 4-over through 13 holes. Fowler responded with a par on No. 1 and then birdied three of his final four holes to close the round. In the afternoon, Fowler had one birdie and seven bogeys.

Freshman Zach Mate shot had two rounds of 75 in his first collegiate tournament. Mate had a birdie, four bogeys and a double bogey in the opening round. He had one birdie and six bogeys in the second round.

Jeffrey Perry completed the lineup with rounds of 79-76-155. Perry had two birdies, seven bogeys and two double bogeys in the first round. He finished the day with a birdie and seven bogeys in the afternoon.

Host Colorado State was 6-under par as a team and holds a 4-stroke lead over Cal State Fullerton in the team standings. Utah Valley is 1-under par and is the only other team among the 15-team field who is in red numbers.

Wyoming's Jaren Calkins shot 67-66-133 and lead's Colorado State's Jay Pabin by two strokes.

Sacramento State will tee off the 10th tee in Tuesday's final round beginning at 7:36 a.m. PT. The Hornets will be paired with Creighton, Air Force and individuals.
