OLIVER CRACKS SCHOOL TOP 10 IN STEEPLE AT BRYAN CLAY

AZUSA, Pacific — The Sacramento State track and field teams began four-straight days of competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday.

The day began with the first four events of the heptathlon where Eliana Coburn and Abby Sheets are competing. Coburn ran 16.58 in the 100-hurdles, cleared 4-11.75 in the high jump, had a shot put of 33-09.50 and ended with a 200 time of 27.07. Prior to Wednesday, Coburn had never competed in the shot put and the 200.

Sheets started by running 17.75 in her first collegiate 100-hurdles race. She then set her career best with a successful high jump attempt at 5-03.25. Sheets had a shot put of 35-11.25 and a 200 of 28.44 in her final two events.

The team closed the night with Tia Oliver and Danielle Gee both setting career bests in the steeplecahse. Oliver ran 11:07.28 which moved her into ninth place in school history. Gee crossed in 11:19.71 which was .06 seconds faster than her last steeplecase at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Mar. 31.

The Bryan Clay Invitational continues on Thursday. Select members of the team will then compete at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday and Saturday.
