DUNCAN EARNS ANOTHER SCHOOL TOP 10 TO CAP DISTANCE WEEKEND

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A week after recording a school top 10 in the 1500, Cagnei Duncan moved into fourth place in program outdoor history in the 5K with her performance at the Stanford Invitational on Friday night.

Duncan ran 16:26.96 to finish in third place in the third section of the 5K at the meet. Her time crushed her PR of 17:00.70 which came at last year's Causeway Dual. The senior's time is the fastest by a Hornet since Chloe Berlioux set the school record of 16:13.20 on Apr. 3, 2015 also at the Stanford Invitational.

Earlier in the day, the team finished the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at San Francisco State. Viviana Valenton led the team in the women's 1500 with a time of 4:49.84. Hunter Phillips set his PR in the men's 1500 after running 4:02.73.

In the 5K, Danielle Gee recorded the fastest time of her career at 11:19.77. Tia Oliver also set a PR in the event with a time of 17:5.24.

The Hornets will return home to host the Sacramento State Invite on Saturday. April 9.
