RUTTER SETS SCHOOL TOP 10 IN THE 10K AT MIKE FANELLI TRACK CLASSIC

SAN FRANCISCO — Hailey Rutter led a group of six personal bests for Sacramento State distance runners during the first day of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at San Francisco State.

Competing in the 10K for the first time in her career, Rutter ran 37:22.36 which moved her into eighth place in school history. That time is the fastest by a Hornet since Emily Johnston ran 36:58.25 on April 3, 2015.

The men's 10K followed where Auden Maddison and Shane Marshall each set PRs. Maddison led the duo with a time of 31:43.75 while Marshall crossed in 31:59.22.

Sacramento State also had three runners in the women's steeplechase. Tia Oliver completed the 3K race in 11:16.28 to place seventh overall. Oliver's time was 21.36 seconds faster than her previous career best. Danielle Gee also had a significant improvement lowering her PR from11:38.31 to 11:19.77. Viviana Valenton completed the trio in 11:42.35.

The Hornets will continue the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Friday with the 1500 and 5K. Cagnei Duncan will ten take part in the 5K at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday.
