CORVALLIS, Ore. — Riley Bell shot 72 during the final round and placed 12th overall to lead the Sacramento State men's golf team at the Oregon State Invitational on Tuesday. The Hornets finished in 13th place with rounds of 302-290-300-892.

Bell led the team in all three rounds of the event. On Tuesday, he started on the 10th hole and moved to 1-under with a birdie on the par-4 11th. However, he was 2-over at the turn with a bogey on the par-5 14th and a double bogey on the par-4 18th. He began the front nine with four pars, then birdied the par-5 fifth and bogeyed the par-3 sixth. After two pars, he concluded his round with a birdie on the par-4 ninth. Bell's total of 74-69-72-215 left him six strokes off the pace of Utah's Javier Barcos who was the medalist.

Casey Leebrick provided a round of 74 on Tuesday to rank second among the Hornets. Leebrick was 4-over through his first nine holes and eventually was 5-over through 14. He then birdied the par-5 fifth and added a birdie on the par-4 seventh to accompany two pars over his final four holes.

The team also counted rounds of 76 from Joe Fowler and 78 from Jeffrey Perry. Fowler parred his first eight holes but moved to 1-over with a bogey on the par-4 ninth. A birdie on the par-4 third returned him to even before he played his final six holes at 5-over with three bogeys and a double bogey. Perry had two bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey in his round.

Sacramento State also had three individuals competing at the Chico State Wildcat Invitational at Peach Tree CC in Marysville, Calif. Zach Mate tied for seventh at the event behind a final round score of 66. His only bogey of the round came on his first hole (No. 11) and he added a birdie on the par-4 13th to get back to even. After four consecutive pars, Mate birdied four of the next five holes to get to 4-under. He added birdies on Nos. 6 and 9 to get to 6-under.

Gabriel Smith finished in 16th place at 69-70-75-214. Smith had three birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey in the third round.

Keaton Sutherland completed the trio by placing 51st. Sutherland's final round was comprised of 14 pars and four bogeys.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Oct. 20-22.
