SACRAMENTO -- Boise State hit .320 as a team, and trailed just twice the entire match on the way to a three-set sweep (25-19, 25-18, 25-13) of the Hornets on Saturday afternoon at the Nest.

Today's match marked the conclusion of the two-day, four-team Sacramento State Invitational. By virtue of going 3-0, Boise State won the tournament championship, followed by the Hornets (2-1), Pacific (1-2) and CSUN (0-3). Sacramento State opened the tournament yesterday with a three-set victory over CSUN and five-set win against Pacific.

The Hornets are now 4-4 overall on the young season, including a 4-3 mark at home. After playing seven of its first eight matches of the year at home, Sacramento State will now play six straight on the road, and do not return to Colberg Court until Oct. 7. Boise State improved to 8-1, and the Broncos have won six straight.

For the Hornets, junior middle blocker Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin and junior setter McKenna Smith were both named to the all-tournament team. The rest of the all-tourney team can be found below the story.

Boise State was just too much for the Hornets, finishing with 42 kills and just nine errors in 103 total attacks. Conversely, the Hornets hit .133 with 33 kills and 19 errors in 105 swings. The Broncos also had 10 aces and 11 blocks. The Hornets' lone advantages in the match were 2-1 and 3-2 early in the second set.

For Sacramento State, Caitlin Volkmann led the way with nine kills and a pair of blocks. The sophomore was the only Hornet with more than five kills as she added an ace and a .269 hitting percentage. Smith finished with three kills, 28 assists, six digs and two blocks, and middle blocker Kalani Hayes had five kills and four blocks. For the first time this season, outside hitter Bridgette Smith did not lead the Hornets in kills as she finished with five to go with four digs.

Libero Caty Cordano had 16 digs, and Michelle Taynton added nine digs and an ace. Ellie Tisko registered four kills and a block, Karlee Soderberg three kills and a block, and Kamba-Griffin two kills, two blocks and an ace.

For Pacific, Ohlinger led all players with 15 kills and a .419 hitting percentage.
