KOGA TIES FOR THIRD, WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES SIXTH AT JULI INKSTER MEADOW CLUB

FAIRFAX, Calif. — Jennifer Koga recorded her second straight top-five finish as she tied for third at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on Tuesday. Koga shot 70-75-73-218 to finish at 2-over par. That performance follows a tie for fifth at The Gunrock Invitational last week.

As a team, Sacramento State was sixth among 12 teams. The Hornets totaled 902 over the three rounds and finished 26 strokes behind Washington which was the winner by six strokes. Stanford (882), San Diego State (892), San Jose State (897) and BYU (900) completed the top five. Sacramento State has now finished among the top six in eight consecutive tournaments dating back to last season.

Koga led the team in the final round with a 1-over par round of 73. She started with a birdie on the first hole and was even at the midway point of her round following a bogey on No. 8. Her back nine began with a bogey on No. 10 but she returned to even with a birdie on the par-3 14th. After two pars, Koga bogeyed the par-4 17th and ended with a par on No. 18.

Corinne Viden shot 75 in the third round and tied for 32nd overall. Viden had 15 pars and three bogeys during her round. She bogeyed No. 1 and then parred her next nine holes. A bogey on the par-3 11th took her to 2-over where she remained until a bogey on the par-5 15th.

Tess Blair added a 76 and tied for 20th. Blair was also even through nine holes with a bogey on the par-3 third and a birdie on the par-5 ninth. She then bogeyed the par-4 10th and 12th holes to go to 2-over par and had a double bogey on the par-4 17th.

Sydney Smith completed the team score with a 7-over par round of 79.. Smith had one birdie and eight bogeys during her round. She tied for 58th in the tournament. Miki Manta tied for 44th after shooting 80 in the final round with three birdies, six bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Red Rocks Invitational on Mar. 20-21 in Sedona, Ariz.
