NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Sacramento State started the week early, traveling to southern California to take on the Matadors of CSUN Wednesday afternoon. Paige Alter picked up a singles win for the Hornets, but the team fell on the road, 6-1.

Paige Alter was the only Hornet to come away with a point for Sacramento State (1-12, 0-1) on Wednesday, winning her No. 3 singles matchup in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. After a back-and-forth opening set, Alter cruised to a clean 6-0 win in the second.

The win was Alter's second this season and her first at No. 3. Her first came at the No. 2 singles position this last weekend at home against William Jessup.

Each of the remaining singles matches were also decided in straight sets, though none in the Hornets' favor. Jayden Nielsen, playing at No. 1, fell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, while Grace Dodd fell at No. 5, 6-2, 6-4.

Each of Wednesday's doubles matches also went to the Matadors.

Wednesday's match was Sacramento State's only scheduled action this week. The Hornets do not have another match until Saturday, April 10, a Big Sky match on the road at Idaho State.
