SPOKANE, Wash. – After dropping the doubles point Sacramento State responded with a sweep of all six singles matches to defeated Eastern Washington, 6-1, in a Big Sky road match on Sunday.

Sacramento State (9-13, 7-3 Big Sky) rebounded from a tough loss on Saturday to pick up its seventh Big Sky win with one league match to play. The Hornets have four total matches remaining in the regular season.

Eastern Washington (4-12, 2-5 Big Sky) got off to a great start on Sunday with a doubles sweep, winning 6-0 at No. 3 and picking up 6-4 wins at the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots. It would be all Hornets in singles play, however.

Senior Andie Mouzes was first to finish in singles, dropping just four games in a 6-1. 6-3 victory over Erin Blessing at No. 3. Junior Ana Loaiza Esquivias improved to 9-1 in Big Sky matches at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Janaya Smith and sophomore Sofia Wicker cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4.

The Hornets clinched the team win at No. 2 singles, where freshman Karina Vyrlan also won in straight sets against Faye Worrall, 7-5, 6-3. Eastern Washington won the first set at No. 5 and 6 but the Hornets battled back to win both matches, with freshman Sofia Gulnova winning 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 5 and redshirt freshman Louisa Brunetti picking up her first win of the Spring with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Marta Heinen at No. 6.

Sacramento State plays at No. 14 California on Wednesday before hosting Long Beach State in its final home match of the season on Friday.
