FT. COLLINS, Colo. — Senior Luke Kristo shot consecutive rounds of 72 to lead the Sacramento State men's golf team during the first day of the Ram Masters Invitational presented by Pedersen Toyota on Monday. Kristo is tied for 14th place while the team is seventh heading into the final round on Tuesday.
During the first round, Kristo had a birdie on the par-4 3rd hole, a bogey and a double bogey. He came back in the second round and began with four pars. A stretch of three straight bogeys (Nos. 16-18) took him to 3-over where he stayed until a birdie on the par-3 5th. Four more pars came before a birdie on the par-4 10th and a bogey on the par-4 11th ended his day.
Newcomer, Taylor Knoll shot 72-75-147 and is tied for 29th. Knoll, a transfer from Nevada, was helped by an eagle on the par-5 1st hole during the first round. He also had two birdies and six bogeys to finish at 2-over. In the second round, Knoll bogeyed three of his first seven holes before a birdie on No. 1. That would be his lone birdie of the round as he closed with seven pars and three bogeys.
Sophomores Aaron Beverly and Robert Parden each totaled 148 during the first two rounds and are tied for 37th place. Beverly had two birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey during his first round.  He parred his first five pars and then moved to 1-under with a birdie on the par-4 16th. Consecutive bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 moved him to 1-over just before a birdie on No. 1. He remained even through No. 5 but double bogeyed the par-4 6th. He later bogeyed No. 9 to finish at 3-over.
Parden was one stroke better in the first round with a birdie and five bogeys. In the afternoon, he opened with three pars but was 3-over through his first nine holes with bogeys on Nos. 14, 17 and 1. He recorded consecutive series with a par, birdie and bogey and later bogeyed No. 9.
Cody Bates completed the lineup with scores of 77-77-151 to place him in a tie for 51st. Bates led the team in the first round with three birdies but also had five bogeys and a double bogey. In the second round, he had a birdie, nine pars and eight bogeys.

The host Rams built a 5-stroke lead for the team title. CSU shot 283-287-570 and is 10-over. Sacramento State is 16 strokes back.
