SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's golf team will play its fourth and final tournament of the fall as it makes the trip to Hawaii for the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational. The three-round tournament starts on Monday and will conclude on Wednesday with single rounds each day beginning at 11:30 a.m. PT at Royal Ka'anapali Course.
The Hornets competed annually in the tournament from 2015-19. The streak stopped when the 2020 fall season was canceled due to COVID-19 but Sacramento State returned in 2021 and played again in 2023 and 2024. This year's field features 19 teams from coast to coast. Three teams are currently in the Clipped top 40 comprised of Colorado (39th), Georgia (40th) and Kansas (41st)

Team Notes
- Sacramento State most recently played in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Oct. 27-29 in Stockton. The team finished in fifth place in the tournament and was led by Mason Benbrook who shot 69-68-72-209 to tie for fifth place.
- Benbrook has averaged 70.67 strokes per round in the last two tournament.
- Zach Mate, Gabriel Smith and Max Thomas as the only members of the team to play in the lineup in every tournament this year.
- Zach Matzke has competed in all three previous tournaments, with two as an individual. Matzke will return to the lineup this week.

The Last Time at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational
Sacramento State finished the three-round tournament at 15-under par but placed 14th out of 21 teams last fall.
Luke Dugger shot 68-71-67-206 to lead the team and tie for 24th place. That mark was the thrid-lowest of Dugger's career and ranked ninth all-time in school history. All five players in the Hornet lineup had success as each posted at least one round of par or better. Overall, 11 of the 15 rounds by a Sacramento State golfer came in at 72 or lower.
