LAHAINA, Hawaii — Jake Aberle set his collegiate best with a 5-under par 66 during the second round of the Ka'anapali Classic by Outrigger on Tuesday. Aberle, who is competing as an individual, moved into a tie for 40
th place while the Hornets are tied for 16
th in the team standings.

Aberle started his round with a bogey on No. 15 but bounced back with consecutive birdies on the next two holes. He dropped to 2-under with a birdie on No. 1 and then surged to 5-under with birdies on Nos. 6, 8 and 9. His only other bogey of the round came on the par-4 10
th and he moved back to 5-under with a birdie on the par-4 12
th. Aberle's score was 1-shot better than his previous best which has come twice.

The Hornets counted four rounds of 72 towards its team total.
Max Thomas is tied for 48
th place at 67-72-149. Thomas bounced between even and 2-over throughout his round. His day was highlighted by an eagle on the 485-yard, par-5 ninth.

Gabriel Smith had five birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey to reach his total He is tied for 66
th at 69-72-141 and is 1-under overall.
Mason Benbrook is one stroke back of Smith and is tied for 74
th. Benbrook had two birdies and a triple bogey on Tuesday.
Zach Mate added three birdies , two bogeys and a double bogey and is tied for 107
th at 77-72-149.

Oklahoma followed a 21-under par total in the first round with a 26-under par round on Tuesday. The Sooner will take a 12-stroke lead over TCU into the final round on Wednesday. Georgia (32-under), Florida Gulf Coast (28-under) and Colorado (26-under) complete the top five.

Ryder Cowan of Oklahoma is the individual leader at 16-under par and has a 4-stroke cushion of the rest of the field. The low round of the day belonged to Georgia's JD Culbreth who shot 61.

The final round will have an 11:30 a.m. PT shotgun start on Wednesday. The Hornets will be paired with CSUN, UC Irvine and individuals and begin on Nos. 12-14.
