FARMINGTON, Utah — Sacramento State's
Mason Benbrook was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Benbrook in his short career with the Hornets.

Competing at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, the Carmichael, Calif., native shot 69-68-72-209 to finish at 7-under par and tie for fifth place. The finish marked the first top-five showing for Benbrook during his collegiate career while the 54-hole total was his second lowest. During the three days, he was 5-under on par-5 holes, even on par-4s and 2-under on par-3s. Benbrook recorded 15 birdies and 32 pars with just six bogeys.

The senior is in his first season with the Hornets as he returned to his hometown after beginning his collegiate career at UC Santa Barbara and also playing at Fresno State.

The Hornets will return to action next week at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii on Oct. 27-29.
