SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State will open its 2014 indoor track and field season on Friday at the Jacksons Invitational in Nampa, Idaho. The meet, which is hosted by Boise State, will continue on Saturday at the Idaho Center.
During the opening day of competition, the Hornet men and women will compete in the weight throw, long jump, 200, 3K and distance medley relay. The women's pole vault will also take place on Friday. The remainder of the meet will begin at 10:25 on Saturday morning.
Along with Sacramento State, the meet is scheduled to include Boise State, Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Utah State, Washington State, Wyoming and several NCAA Div. II teams.

The Sacramento State women were selected to finish first and the men third in the Big Sky Conference preseason poll. The women return several individual conference champions from a year ago comprised of Erinn Jones (weight throw), Domonique Whittington (400), Morgan Dampier (800), Lauren Mugnaini (10K) and Morgan Pope (200).
The Hornet men will be led by defending Big Sky champions Zach Coniglio (shot put) and Paul Lyons (110-hurdles, 400-hurdles).
