SACRAMENTO, Calif. — For the first time in nearly a month, the Sacramento State track and field team will be located at one meet when the team makes the short trip to UC Davis for the annual Causeway Classic Dual Meet on Friday. The meet will have an early start with the women's hammer starting at 9 a.m. and the first running event beginning at 10:30 a.m. Competition is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m.
Â
Sacramento State is coming off a weekend in Southern California which saw the team compete at the Mt. SAC Relays, the Bryan Clay Invitational and a pair of meets at Long Beach State. At those meets, the Hornets combined to set six school top 10 marks, including records in the men's 4x100 and 4x400 and from
Brandon Moreno in the 1500.
Â
The Causeway Classic Dual will feature a 5-3-2-1 scoring format with no team able to have more than two scorers in an event. The relays will be scored 5-3. Last season, the Hornet men cruised to a 102-83 win while the women's competition came down to the final event and Sacramento State prevailed 101-99. The Hornets now leads the women's all-time series 12-6-1, including wining the last six. The men hold a commanding 14-4-1 edge in the series.
Â
Following the Causeway, Sacramento State will have just one more weekend of action before the Big Sky Outdoor Championships on May 13-16. The Hornets currently have 44 marks which rank among the top eight of the conference:
