MEN'S BASKETBALL BACK ON THE ROAD; PLAYS AT IDAHO ON THURSDAY NIGHT

GAME PREVIEW

• Fresh off two home wins, Sacramento State (6-11, 2-3) is back on the road this week for a pair of games, beginning Thursday at Idaho (11-7, 3-2). Tip at ICCU Arena is 6 p.m.
• The Hornets are coming off a 93-89 overtime win over Northern Colorado in which the Hornets trailed by 18 points with under 10 minutes to play. At that point, ESPN gave Sacramento State a 0.8 percent chance of winning.
• Sacramento State won that game without three starters to injury (Mikey Williams, Jeremiah Cherry, Brandon Gardner) and started a pair of freshmen in the game (Mark Lavrenov, Taj Glover).
• Williams, who leads the Big Sky with 29.7 ppg in league play, has missed the last two games with injury while Cherry has missed 11 straight games. Eight different Hornets have missed games to injuries this season. That includes five in the win over the Bears.
• The Hornets are 6-1 at home, but it has been the exact opposite on the road. Sacramento State is still seeking its first road victory (0-10) and recently completed a seven-game road trip in which the team went 49 straight days without a home game. That streak is the third longest in the country among Div. I teams without a home game.
• Sacramento State opened the conference slate with three straight road games at Idaho State (97-84), Weber State (95-82) and Portland State (96-69).
• The Hornets will look to snap a 12-game road losing streak that dates back to last season. The team's last road victory came on Feb. 20, 2025, at Weber State (80-77).
• Should the Hornets win Thursday, it would be their longest winning streak of the season.
• Idaho, which is 11-7 and 3-2 in league, loves to play close games. All five of their Big Sky games have been decided by eight points or less. In fact, each of their last seven games have been decided by eight points or fewer.
• The Vandals are 6-1 at home, with their only loss at ICCU Arena coming to preseason favorite Montana by a 79-73 score.
• The Hornets are 12-26 all-time against Idaho, and have lost five of the last six in the series. The lone win over the Vandals since 2023 came during the 2024 Big Sky Tournament in Boise, Idaho, where the Hornets won, 72-64.
• Though the Hornets are 4-15 on the road against Idaho, each of the last four meetings in Moscow have been decided by three points or less (Hornets are 1-3 in those outcomes).
• Idaho loves to shoot the 3-ball as the Vandals are 27th in the nation with 29.3 3-point attempts per game, and 25th with 10.6 3-point makes per contest. Remarkably, eight different Vandals have connected on over 10 3-pointers this season.

MULTIMEDIA/TELEVISION OPTIONS

• That includes Saturday night that airs on ESPN+ with 29th-year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy and former Hornet assistant coach Ajay Riding on the call.
