SACRAMENTO, Calif. — For the first time in school history the Sacramento State men's golf team will compete in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. The three-round tournament will take place on Sept. 29-30 at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo. The tournament will feature two rounds on Monday and a single round on Tuesday.

The event will be the second of the fall season for the Hornets. Sacramento State started its season by placing ninth out of 16 teams at the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo. The Hornets were led by
Gabriel Smith who shot 68-70-71-209 to finish in ninth overall. Smith,
Max Thomas and
Zach Mate return to the lineup this week and will be joined by
Jake Aberle and
Mason Benbrook.

During the first round, Sacramento State will be paired by Boise State, UC Irvine and Texas State. The foursomes will have a shotgun start at 6:15 a.m. PT and will tee off Nos. 8-12.
