SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's golf team will begin its 2025-26 season at the Ram Masters on Thursday and Friday at Fort Collins CC. The Hornets will compete at the event for the second-consecutive season and four time since 2021.
The Hornet lineup will feature four players who competed for the team a year ago. Senior
Patrick Dumag will start the season from the No. 1 position and will be followed by
Zach Mate,
Max Thomas,
Gabriel Smith and
Jai Bahl with
Zach Matzke competing as an individual. Bahl and Matzke are the only members of the group who did not compete at the Ram Masters last season.
The 17-team field in this year's tournament is comprised mostly of teams from the western U.S. that compete in the Big XII, Mountain West, Big West, Big Sky and WAC. Sacramento State was picked to finish first in the presason poll of Big Sky coaches. The Hornets return to the league for the 2025-26 season before departing to become full-time members of The Big West next year.

The Last Time at the Ram Masters
Luke Dugger shot 66 in the first round and tied for fourth place overall with a three-round total of 66-71-67-204. Sacramento State tied for seventh out of 16 teams and posted its best team score in six appearances at the tournament. Host Colorado State won the event by four strokes over Utah Tech.
