CARY, N.C. — Facing some of the nation's top players all vying for a spot in the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships, Sacramento State junior Reese Walker split a pair of matches over the weekend in Cary, N.C., wrapping up play at the ITA All-American Championships at the Cary Tennis Park.
Walker opened the tournament win a straight-set win over Wisconsin's Lucie Urbanova, 7-5, 6-3, in the pre-qualfying round of 256, but had her run come to an end with a three-set marathon against Fordham's Nevena Kolarevic.Â
Kolarevic, the No. 21 seeded player in the draw, opened with a 6-1 win in the first set only to watch Walker respond in a big way, shutting out the Ram senior, 6-0. The two then went head-to-head in the third with Kolarevic eventually outlasting Walker, 6-4, for the win.
With Walker back in the fold, the team makes a return trip to Berkeley, Calif., this weekend to compete at the Cal Fall Invitational at the Hellman Tennis Complex from Sept. 26-28.
