SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Seniors Reese Walker and Irene Riva each finished 2-0 in singles while junior Nel Van Hout was 2-0 in doubles, helping lead the Sacramento State women's tennis contingent at the Santa Clara Hidden Duals tournament at the Degheri Tennis Center over the weekend.

All three players wrapped up the weekend with identical 3-1 records between the singles and doubles competitions, taking on opponents from the host Broncos, San Jose State, and Pacific. Newcomers Jess Schilz, Dasha Savina, and Francesca De Matteo also posted singles wins on the weekend.

Sacramento State opened by taking four of the six singles contests against San Jose State on Saturday with Walker, Riva, Van Hout, and Jess Schilz all posting straight-set victories. In doubles, the duo of Van Hout and Walker edged Santa Clara's tandem of Ashley Kurizaki and Anna Rahman, 7-5, but the Broncos answered with wins at the other two doubles positions.

On Sunday, the Hornets continued their singles success with Walker and Riva winning in straight sets at the top two spots, while Savina and De Matteo won at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions in dominating fashion. Savina dropped only two games while De Matteo posted a 6-1, 6-3, victory.

In doubles, Riva and Van Hout posted a 6-4 win over the San Jose State duo of Pranyte and Nikita Girish, 6-4, while the Spartans posted a win at No. 2 and a tandem from Pacific stepped in and came away with a win at No. 3.

Sacramento State wraps up the fall schedule with a trip to Northridge on Nov. 6-8, competing at the CSUN Hidden Duals event.
