AZUSA/LONG BEACH, Calif. — Three more school top 10 performances highlighted the second day of a busy weekend for the Sacramento State track & field teams. The Hornets competed at the Bryan Clay Classic at Azusa Pacific as well as the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State during the second of four days of action.
Â
The morning saw
Ryan Martin set his PR and move into 10
th place in school history in the men's 5K. Martin ran 14:36.74 at the Bryan Clay Classic to take nearly five seconds off his previous best. His time was the fastest by a Hornet since Reesey Byers set the school record in 2013.
Â
In the evening session, three Sacramento State student-athletes set PRs in the 800.
Dominique Abbott ran 2:08.05 for a 4.67 second improvement which vaulted her into fifth place in school history. Abbott now only trails former All-Americans Lea Wallace and Renisha Robinson as well as NCAA qualifiers Africa Eldridge and Alyssa Brewer in the school record book.
Â
In the men's 800,
Cooper Love and
Logan Borg each recorded personal bests. Love ran 1:52.76 to take 1.1 seconds off his previous low while Borg crossed in 1:53.60 for a 1.05 second PR.
Â
At the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate,
Jessi Barry led the way by clearing 5-08.75 in the women's high jump. The junior, who had never high jumped before this season, is now tied for fifth in school history and produced the best effort by a Hornet since 2017. Their effort on Thursday placed third overall at the meet.
Â
Tamia Ramos finished in fifth place in the triple jump behind a best of 39-09.75 for the team's other top-five showing.
Â
Eli Kaltreider claimed third place in the men's high jump with a successful attempt at 6-07.50.
