SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State beat Pacific in straight sets, 5-0, and clinched a win over San Jose State, 3-2, to win their first two home matches of the young season.
Today's matches were part of the Beach Bash, which saw three teams converge on Hornet Beach.
The Hornets saw wins in both matchups from Ashlynn Archer/Ellie Tisko (No. 2), Karlie Spohn/Greta Davis (No. 3), and Victoria Marthaler/Mia Guevara (No. 4).
Archer/Tisko won both matches in straight sets, and the duo is now 6-3 this season.
Spohn/Davis won in straight sets over Pacific and fought off multiple match points in the third set against the Spartans to secure the dual win for the Hornets, with scores of 22-20, 19-21, 20-18.
The duo of Guevara/Marthaler also took down Pacific in straight sets, and fought back from an early point deficit in the third set against San Jose to pull off the win for the Hornets, 21-19, 24-26, 16-14.
Caitlin Volkmann/Bridgette Smith (No. 1) won in straight sets over Pacific, 21-16, 21-18.
The pair of Skyler Gartin/Asia Pollina represented the Hornets at the fives against Pacific, securing their first win as a pair, 21-18, 21-19.
In the match against San Jose, the duo of Kate Doorn/Savannah Risley played at the fives for the Hornets, but fell short to the Spartans.
The Hornets will be back in action next weekend at the Malibu Invite, hosted by Pepperdine. Sacramento State will open next weekend's tournament with a matchup against UTEP on Friday at 11 a.m.
