Sacramento State dropped a close match to CSUN in their final match of the day at the Big West Challenge, receiving wins from

Caitlin Volkmann (No. 1) and
Ashlynn Archer/
Ellie Tisko (No. 2).
In the matchup against the Matadors, Smith/Volkmann won in straight sets, 21-19, 22-20. The pair went 2-1 today, falling only to nationally-ranked and tournament host Cal Poly.
The duo of Archer/Tisko took the match in three sets, 19-21, 21-18, 15-12.
Hailey Plugge/
Abbey Kadillak (No. 5) made their debut in the lineup for the Hornets in the match against CSUN.
After playing three matches today, the Hornets are slated to play another three matches tomorrow against Big West foes, starting with a matchup against eighth-ranked Long Beach at 12:45 p.m. The team will also play 17th-ranked Hawaii at 3:15 p.m., and UC Davis at 5:45 p.m.
