STANFORD, Calif. -- Sacramento State opened the weekend at the Battle of the Bay beach tournament against 5th-ranked Stanford and Saint Mary's.
The Hornets started the day with a 5-0 loss to host Stanford, then dropped a close dual to Saint Mary's, 3-2.

Ellie Tisko won in straight sets 23-21, 21-17. In the first set, the pair battled back from a three-point deficit at 17-20 to clinch the set.

Victoria Marthaler won in three sets after dropping a close first set, 29-31. The pair came back to win the next two sets 21-19, 15-13.
The Hornets are back in action tomorrow and will face San Francisco at noon, and 9th-ranked host Cal at 2 p.m.
