TRACK & FIELD GETS EARLY START TO INDOOR SEASON AT SILVER STATE INVITATIONAL AND COMBINED

Hornets to compete before New Year's for the first time in program history

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State will have the earliest start to its indoor season in school history as the team will make its 2025-26 debut at the Silver State Invitational and Combined on Thursday-Saturday in Sparks, Nev. The meet will begin with the women's pentathlon and the first four events of the men's heptathlon on Thursday. The heptathlon will conclude on Friday and the main program of the meet will take place over the final two days.
 
The Hornets, who have never competed prior to January, will participate in six meets over five weekends before the Big Sky Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-28 in Pocatello, Idaho. Along with this weekend's meet, the team will travel to the Spokane Sports Showcase on Jan. 16-17, the UW Invite on Jan. 30-31 and the Wolf Pack Classic on Feb. 5-7. The final weekend of the regular season will see the team split between the Husky Classic in Seattle and the Don Kirby Elite in Albuquerque, N.M., on Feb. 13-14.
 
Sacramento State has 25 men and 23 women entered into the Silver State Invitational and Combined. Four newcomers will make their Hornet debuts in the multis with Brock Gross, Blake Gross and Cade Oliver in the heptathlon and Merle Weber in the pentathlon.
 
The team will see numerous all-Big Sky athletes compete in the main program including Jessi Barry (60/HJ), Ava Fitzgerald (60H), Breija Stredic (400), Eli Kaltreider (60/HJ) and Kellan Quinley (TJ).
