MEN'S BASKETBALL: FINAL ROAD GAME OF REGULAR SEASON SATURDAY AT MONTANA STATE

GAME PREVIEW

• With just three games left in the regular season, Sacramento State (6-22, 2-13) will play its final road game on Saturday at Montana State (12-15, 7-7). Tip at Worthington Arena is set for 5 p.m. PT.
• The Hornets are coming off a 68-61 loss at Montana on Thursday night. Sacramento State trailed by three points with six minutes to play before the Griz went on a 7-0 run.
• Sacramento State has dropped 11 consecutive games, the program's longest losing streak since the 2008-09 team dropped 14 straight.
• Of those 11 losses, eight have come by single digits. In fact, of the Hornets' 15 Big Sky Conference games, 11 have been decided by single digits. That includes seven that were decided by five points or less.
• The Hornets are assured of playing in the No. 9 vs No. 10 seed game in the first round of the Big Sky Tournament in Boise on Saturday, March 9, at 4:30 p.m. PT.
• Sacramento State is 1-13 on the road, and is seeking its first road win against a Big Sky opponent (0-8). Of those eight losses, six have come by single digits. That includes Thursday night's loss at Montana.
• Sacramento State has gone decidedly young. The Hornets are routinely starting two freshmen. In addition, five freshmen and a sophomore were in the team's 10-man rotation at Montana on Thursday.
• Montana State snapped a season-long four-game losing streak with a 72-67 home win over Portland State on Thursday. During the losing streak, three of those losses were by six points or fewer.
• The Bobcats are 9-6 at home, including 5-2 vs. Big Sky competition.
• Montana State currently sits in fifth place in the Big Sky standings. Four teams - Bobcats (7-7), Portland State (7-8), Northern Arizona (6-8) and Idaho State (6-8) are battling for the fifth and six seeds at the Big Sky Tournament, and the all-important first round bye.
• The Bobcats beat the Hornets, 70-62, on Jan. 25 at The Nest. MSU made its first seven shots of the game, and jumped out to a 17-8 lead. The Hornets never led the entire way, and Montana State converted 8-of-15 shots from 3-point range.
• Sacramento State is 23-41 all-time against Montana State, including a 6-26 record in Bozeman. The Bobcats have won six straight in the series, but five of those outcomes were by eight points or fewer.
• The Hornets' last win in the series came on March 6, 2021, in Bozeman (74-73). That was Sacramento State's lone win in the last 12 meetings in Bozeman dating back to 2012.
• The Hornets are in the second season of the David Patrick era. Last year's squad finished 14-18 overall and 7-11 in the Big Sky Conference. The 14 wins were the most by a first-year head coach during the Hornets' Div. I era (1991-pres.), and third most in program history.
