STOCKTON, Calif. -- Sacramento State sent five players to the Pacific Tennis Invitational, held over the weekend at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on the Pacific campus.

The tournament marked the conclusion of the team's fall schedule.

The five Hornets - Nick Bowles, Martin Duris, Henry Lamchinniah, Hayden Rand and Miles Whitehead - each competed in both the singles and doubles draws. Everyone but Rand is brand new to the program.

Highlighting the event were Lamchinniah and Bowles, who both posted 3-0 singles records. In fact, each player won all three of his matches in straight sets over opponents from Saint Mary's (Friday), Washington (Saturday) and Santa Clara (Sunday).

All five Hornets won at least one singles match, including Martin Duris who went 2-1 in his fall debut with team. The Hornets went 3-0 in singles play vs. Washington as Lamchinniah, Bowles and Rand each posted victories against the Huskies.

Lamchinniah and Bowles completed impressive fall seasons that saw both players rack up six singles victories over three tournaments. Lamchinniah went 6-2 during the fall, while Bowles was 6-3.

"I like the progress our guys made throughout the fall," Sacramento State head coach Kevin Kurtz said. "We have a really good group of players who work hard, and the excitement level is high for the spring season."

Sacramento State does not play again until opening the spring schedule on Jan. 16 at Santa Clara. Each of the Hornets' first three spring matches are on the road. The home opener is Jan. 31 vs. Pacific.
